African Calla. South African endemics from wet areas which fall dry in S African summer. All Zantedeschia have elegant spathes in white, yellow to rose and a very attractive foliage. Will go dormant in fall.
Calla Lily is an old-fashioned, but very elegant garden plant, native to South Africa. These elegant flowers have graced many bridal bouquets in Europe, in old times.
Calla lilies (Zantedsechia spp.) grow wild in eastern and southern Africa in moist meadows and along ponds and streams.
Callaway is of unknown geographical origin, though believed most likely to have come from Pine Mountain in Georgia.

Soil: Fast-draining; dig in 3 inches of amendment such as compost.
Exposure: Partial shade where summers are hot, full sun or light shade in cooler climates.

Calla lilies (Zantedeschia) are tropical both in their foliage and in their upright, spiralled flowers. There are lots of smaller varieties in shades of yellow, pink, red, white and purple, but for me, the large, old-fashioned common calla, Z.
Calla lilies are easy to grow, as long as they have plenty of water, and they're perfect for patio pots where you can enjoy their beautiful colors and exotic shapes close range.
Calla lilies are best known as a cut flower. They are easy to grow in partial shade or as a container plant. Handle these rhizomes much as you would tuberous begonias.

Calla Lily is composed of many basal sagittate leaves and very attractive, funnelform flowers composed of a curled spathe and yellow spadix, all of which arise from the tender rhizomes underground.
Flowers resemble Calla Lily, a central column of tiny, closely set flowers surrounded by a leaf-like bract.

Needs regular water to thrive; however, Peace Lilies can wilt very badly and still recover with a thorough watering.
The most familiar calla, this 3-foot-tall and 2-foot-wide plant has large white flowers-up to 10 inches long-that surround a creamy yellow fingerlike centerpiece. They bloom from late spring to mid-summer.
