Starry campion can be identified by its fringed white petals. Bladder campion looks somewhat similar, but its petals are notched, not fringed.

Moss Campion is part of the pinks family. It is well adapted to growing in the lower, and sometimes higher Alpine regions. Moss Campion only grows about 5-15 cm tall, hugging the ground for warmth.

Rose campion is a member of the carnation family with a circumpolar range in the mountains of the northern hemisphere. In North America, it grows in the arctic region and down the spine of the Rockies.

It seeds true every year, although I do not have another variety like the Rose campion (top most photo) in the garden for it to cross with, so it keeps its white flowers.

Description
Rose campion is an erect, many-branched biennial (or short-lived perennial) with softly wooly silver-gray leaves and stems.

Rose Campion (Lychnis coronaria) is an evergreen biennial in our low-maintenance roadside sungarden. The genus name means "Lamp" & alludes to the ancient use of the felt-like leaves as lamp wicks.

Moss Campion grows on alpine tundra in spreading tufts of moss-like green. Barely above the tight cushion of tiny leaves, an array of five-petaled pink/lavender flowers arises and, with normal precipitation, often completely covers the green cushion.
