CAPER SPURGE (E. lathyris). (Syn. Mole Plant.) Has a milky juice of an acrid nature.
Caper spurge, Euphorbia lathyris, which is a biennial plant, has its adherents who claim the root exudates repel moles. It is worth a try, but remove most of the flower heads before seeding occurs or a weed problem may result.

Jamaica caper produces large quantities of flowers. The flowers have four white petals and many purple stamens, which extend beyond the petals. Fruit are slender, rust-colored pods which split open to expose seeds enclosed in an orange-red aril.
The landscaper uses bulrushes along pond or lake edges as screens or specimen plants. Bulrush is often planted for erosion control, streambank stabilization, wildlife cover and food, and wetland restoration in general.
