The "Pendula" form is one of the hardiest of Cedrus libani. Some of these Pendulas weep far more dramatically, humping over onto the ground like green-furred serpents.

According to the IUCN Red List of Threatened species, Cedrus libani is listed as LR/nt. It is at a Lower Risk, meaning that it doesn't fulfill the criteria for any of the categories of Critically Endangered, Endangered or Vulnerable.

In the wood of Cypressus, Cedrus, Abies and several other genera, parenchymatous cells occur in association with the xylem-tracheids and take the place of the resin-canals of other types.

The true cedars belong to the small genus Cedrus of the family Pinaceae (pine family).

Cedar trees (genus Cedrus) are large evergreen coniferous trees (up to about 80 feet tall) that have dense clusters of needles held in wide, woody peg-like structures. The barrel-shaped cones are held upright above a branch.

Most species of Sabina are commonly called "Cedar" in the United States: "Cedar fence posts", "Cedar firewood", "Eastern Red Cedar", etc. But there are no Cedars, no members of Cedrus, in the United States.

They are commonly known as arborvitae (from Latin for tree of life) or thujas; several species are widely known as cedar but because they are not true cedars (Cedrus) it has been recommended to call them redcedars or whitecedars.
