Chokecherry
Our native cherry Prunus virginiana has subspecies scattered from coast to coast in North America. The only reason they're named for Virginia is that is where they were first described by pioneer botanists.

Chokecherry is found almost from coast to coast across the central and northern United States and southern Canada. Chokecherry berries are an important wildlife food and humans have eaten their berries for millennia.
