Sweet Cicely (Myrrhis) - M. odorata is a graceful native plant, with a peculiar but grateful odour and sweet-tasting stems, 2 to 3 feet high, with white flowers in early summer, in compound umbels.

A very similar plant, sweet cicely (Osmorhiza claytoni) is also found in Connecticut. The two are distinguished by technical characteristics: the styles of aniseroot are longer than the petals (on the seeds they are 1/8 inch long ).
