Cinnamon vine, so named because the foliage is said to have a cinnamon scent when crushed, forms large, edible, long-lived underground tubers. Air potato has an insignificant in-ground tuber but the aerial tubers are edible and weight up to a pound.

In a large glass or wooden bowl, mix 1 quart of dried petals with about 1 ounce by weight of dried herbs or spices of the scent you desire-for example, allspice, cinnamon, cloves, lemon verbena, or mint.

The clumping, evergreen Epimedium sagitatum (1877) (Zone 5-8) is one of many Chinese species with tiny flowers, but the feature to recommend is the attractive cinnamon colored leaves as it emerges.

Its coat can range from cinnamon, light grey or red, but is mostly a combination of all these colors. The chin, lips, nose, and the areas around the eyes are outlined in black. Its ears, neck and the sides of its legs are usually cinnamon.
