Citrus unshiu 'Seto' is a variety that was developed in Japan by controlled pollination of 'Miyagawa' Satsuma. Seed was sent from Japan in the mid 1980's to the TAMU Research and Extension Center.
Now there are Mandarins, of which there are four main types: the Satsumas of Japan (Citrus unshiu), the Mediterranean mandarins of Europe (C. deliciosa), the King Mandarins of Asia (C. nobilis) and the "common" Mandarins (C. reticulata).
