Crape Myrtle, White Crape Myrtle

Acoma has a low spreading form with almost pendulous branches. Mature height is 10 feet tall and 11 feet wide. June to September flowers are white. Fall color is purplish-red. This crepe myrtle is mildew resistant.

Common Crape myrtle [KRAPE-MUR-tul] is an excellent ornamental plant for residential yards and gardens.

Crape myrtle is a fast-growing, small to medium-sized, deciduous tree that produces large, colorful flowers over a long period from midsummer to fall. The foliage is attractive in fall and the textured bark provides winter interest.

Crape myrtle is an upright deciduous tree or large shrub. Dark green leaves emerge bronze. White, pink, red, or purple flowers appear from summer to autumn. Peeling gray-and-brown bark is attractive.

Lagerstroemia Indica. Crape myrtle. Known locally as Queen of Shrubs. Good choice for Bermuda. Native of China. believed brought to Bermuda by Captain J. Austin, RN. Summer flowering, showy flowers.

Many trees and shrubs do just fine in drought-prone areas. These include Acuba, Beautybery, Crape Myrtle, live oaks and many, many more. Most perennial grasses tolerate drought well, as do succulents such as cacti.

This unusual tree with large, leathery leaves to 9 inches wide and 2 feet long has replaced (August 2003) a crape myrtle in the inner northeast island of the Inner Quad. Flowers have purplish blue sepals and fleshy, ivory white petals.
