Cyathea cooperi (Australian Tree Fern) - This is a fast growing tree fern that grows to 20 feet and spreads up to about 8 to 12 feet. The finely divided fronds rise out of the trunk and arch down as they get older.

Cyathea cooperi has a slender trunk usually about 3 - 6" thick, sometimes growing to 30' high, and puts on growth very quickly.

The common name 'Australian tree fern' may also be used to refer to Cyathea cooperi and Cyathea australis.

The tree ferns (families Dicksoniaceae and Cyatheaceae) are the only living ferns of any commercial importance other than as ornamentals.

Silver Tree-fern (Cyathea)
This very handsome Fern, C. dealbata, known in New Zealand as the Silver Tree-fern, has a slender, almost black stem, 4 to 8 feet high, ending in a fine crown of fronds, dark green above and milk-white below.

Dicksonia is a genus of tree ferns in the order Cyatheales. It is regarded as related to Cyathea, but is considered more primitive, dating back at least to the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
