3 (6)m, Crete Date Palm is the only recently discovered endemic palm to this island, where it is extremely rare. Similar as Phoenix dactylifera, yet with a more massive, broader stem and a denser crown of leather like, dark green feathered leaves.

Date palms tend to sucker that if left untrimmed will eventually form a large impenetrable clump.

The date palm is native to North Africa - exactly where is indeterminable.

Date palms and Mexican palms have been planted at developed sites throughout the Lake Mead National Recreation Area in Nevada and Arizona.

Phoenix dactylifera
Introduced palm with a rounded crown and a stout, gray trunk often covered with woody bases of old leaves. Leaves: to 20' (6 m) long, feather-like, erect, gray-green, evergreen.

To date, no study supports the effectiveness of coffeegrounds per se as slug deterrants, though hypoethetically a minor effect could be inferred to the grounds on the basis of the predictable effects of the liquid solutions sprayed on entire plants.

The Senegal Date palm is variable in shape and form but tends to grow as clumps composed of multiple stems reaching 25 ft to 50 ft in height.

Planting Date
Spinach grows best at temperatures between 50 and 63 degrees F., and usually matures in 37 to 45 days. Seedlings are frost-hardy. It should be direct-sown as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring.

Place the cutting in a small, clean container and label immediately, giving details of name and the date taken. The wound(s) on the tuber should then be dusted with sulfur or some other fungicide powder. Do not dust the cutting itself.

About This Plant
There are several types of basil to choose from.

Canna rhizomes should be planted 2-4" deep after the last frost date and should not be planted after August, north of Zone 8. Potted Canna should be planted in the garden at the same level they were in the pot.

Phoenix canariensis Common name(s): Date palm
Genus of 17 species of single- and cluster-stemmed palms from tropical and subtropical forest or low scrub thiskets in the Canary Islands, Africa, Crete (Greece), and W. and S. Asia to Philippines.

Along the Front Range, the exact date depends on the weather, amount of precipitation, the elevation at which bulbs are planted, and planting depth.

Phoenix canariensis AGM (Canary Island date palm): Hardy to -8°C (18°F). A relatively fast-growing feather palm for a sunny, well-drained spot.

However, both sets of birth times vary due to the fact that female skunks can delay the birth date until the food is plentiful. Mother skunks give birth to about 6 pups at a time. A skunk's gestation period is 50-65 days, longer with implantation.

Leeks may be planted from seed 4 to 6 weeks before the average date of the last frost or from transplants in the fall. Transplants may be set out in early spring to mid summer.

Be sure to check the frost free date in your area.
Vining pumpkins need lots of space, at least 50 to 100 square feet per hill. Plant seeds one inch deep (four or five seeds per hill). Space the hills five to six feet apart.

Actually, it is not a fern at all, but a Lycopod -- a descendent of spore-producing plants that date back unchanged into the Permian (~320 mya or so). Tree-like relatives of this plant group produced the great coal forests of the Carboniferous.

myrtifolia-type miniature mountain laurel to date, this plant offers buds that are light pink and open to display a corolla with a wide, almost cherry-red band inside. The foliage is very glossy, dark green and slightly cupped.
