Eupatorium capillifolium, commonly called dog fennel has a reputation that is hard to deny. Anyone who has ever farmed in eastern NC is very familiar with dog fennel, as one of their least favorite weeds.

Sometimes known as the Dog Fennel this is a foliage plant from south-eastern USA. Totally dissimilar to other members of this family it has wand-like 150cm stems clothed in filigree bright green foliage an emerald foil to more colourful perennials.

Fennel-flower, a member of the buttercup family, also produces aromatic seeds. The dog fennels are members of the family Asteraceae (aster family).
