Saxifragaceae / Saxifrage Early Saxifrage (Saxifraga virginiensis)
Plant Type: This is a herbacious plant which can reach 30cm tall (12inches).
Leaves: This plant has basal leaves only. Leaves can reach 8cm in length (3inches) long .

 


Among American wildflowers are the Eastern early saxifrage (S. virginiensis) and a Western species called umbrella plant (S. peltata). The genus also includes the arctic and alpine S.

Several white-flowered native plants, including toothworts (Dentaria), sweet cicely (Osmorhiza claytonii), and early saxifrage (Saxifraga virginica), occur alongside garlic mustard and may be mistaken for it.
