Coleus x 'Ebony Dwarf' is very nice coleus that grow only 8-12' and has a small mounding habit. Unlike most Coleus, it has a very small leaves that gives it a petite, delicate appearance.
Red-fruited Ebony is generally a small tree, though it can grow to 25 m tall. The stem is often crooked, and has dark, scaly bark. The leaves are alternate, and up to 13 cm long.
Ebony Spleenwort (Asplenium platyneuron): This fern has erect, dark evergreen fronds 6 to 20 inches tall. It is native throughout South Carolina. It prefers some sun to light shade, does not like wet soils. Propagate by rhizome division.

A relatively new cultivar, "Black Mondo grass" (Ophiopogon planiscapus 'Nigrescens') is occasionally sold as "Arabicus," "Ebony Knight," or by the silly name "Black Dragon," but the name that is going to stick is Black Mondo Grass.
As a close relative of the African ebony, it has hard, dark and beautifully grained wood. A lot of the large old trees were cut to make wooden drivers (golf clubs) during the early years of the 20th century.
The great hardness of teak is due to the silica deposited in the heart-wood, and the special coloring matters of various woods, such as satinwood, ebony, &c., are confined to the heart-wood.
