Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica) is widely naturalised in the coastal districts of eastern Australia and also present in some parts of southern Australia.

General Notes
Japanese Loquat is less-often planted than Bronze Loquat, which has shinier foliage and rarely sets fruit. Its fuzzy leaves often make it look dusty and dirty. But it is a tough ornamental that survives to 0ºF.

Pyracantha scab also attacks Cotoneaster, Eriobotrya (loquat) and Mespilus (medlar) to a lesser extent.

Some think it is a hybrid between a Rhaphiolepis and an Eriobotrya (loquot), others list it as R ×delacourii, a cross of R. umbellata × R. indica.
