Everlasting Flower (Helichrysum) - Composites, mostly natives of the Cape of Good Hope, of which a few are cultivated. The most important garden plants are H. macranthum and H. bracteatum.

This is a variety of the 'everlasting' flower. The whole plant has a greyish, rather woolly appearance. The tight flat flowerhead is white and becomes woolly as the flowers mature.

The "everlasting" nature of the flowers does strike me as an ornamental plus making it a worthily gardenable wildflower. Others more inclined to make tonic teas from their home-grown herbs will find it of even greater value.

Sweet pea lovers will be attracted to this herbaceous, perennial, Southern European climber, but disappointed that it is scentless.

Helichrysum bracteatum (Paper Daisy, Everlasting Daisy)- excellent in dried arrangements, strawflower is also pretty in the garden.
