The texture of Carline Thistles is like that of Everlasting Flowers; they scarcely alter their appearance when dead; and the whole plant is remarkably durable.
In the autumn, it produces heads of little, woolly, white flowers which can be cut and dried. These 'everlasting flowers' are the source of the plant's rather optimistic popular name, pearly everlasting.
