This plant has delightful, airy blooms on long, (60 cm), thin stalks. Grey-green leaves, white or pink flowers with red sepals.
Gaura is an herbaceous perennial that grows in a loose, bushy clump 2-4ft tall with a spread of 2-3ft. The stems are slender and wiry, and covered with tiny hairs. The leaves are spoon shaped, with toothed margins.
Gaura, which means superb in Latin, was first collected by an exiled German nobleman, F. J. Lindheimer (1801-1879), who collected plants in Texas during the 19th century.
