Plants GayfeatherGeiger Tree

Gazania linearis is a species of flowering plant in the daisy family known by the common name treasureflower.

Gazanias are very commonly used as annuals. In Phoenix, they overwinter well if not kept wet. Keep them in light sandy soil, water them occasionally once established, and fertilize them twice a year.

Gazania rigens is native to South Africa, where it is called Rankbotterblom by Afrikaaners & Ububendle by the Zulu. It is distributed in America as Treasure Flower or Rainbow Daisies.

Some kinds, such as geraniums (zonal and ivy-leaved pelargoniums), calceolarias, gazanias, fuchsias, marguerites, and penstemons, are increased by cuttings. These must be prepared from firm, non-flowering shoots. They should be 1 to 4 in.

Tender perennials such as verbena, bidens, gazanias and argyranthemums are best propagated each year from cuttings. In this way, you can keep the garden supplied with bushy, vigorous plants full of flowering potential.
