Grapes are another type of climbing vine, although you may not immediately think of them when you're trying to identify vines.

Your grape vines should need little attention during the season. Be vigilant for for insect and plant disease. Adding a little fertilizer once a month is helpful. Water vines during droughts only.

The grape vine (typically Vitis vinifera) has been used as a symbol since ancient times.
Many grape vines are grafts of different varieties, one for the roots and one for the shoots. Looks for a graft union close above the crown, showing as a bulge, a difference in diameter, or a change in bark.
Most grape vines have big leaves and their leaves do not dwarf well. To have a reasonable proportion for a bonsai there needs to be a relatively large and old massive trunk.
