Kahili Ginger
Their scientific name means "sweet snow". Whether pure white, yellow, pink, or red, their ethereal, orchidlike blossoms all exude a delicious fragrance, never quite matched by bottled perfumes.

Hedychium - Tall and graceful tropical plants. H. Gardnerianum, though usually grown in the green-house, will flower out of doors, and live through an ordinary winter with a little protection.
Hedychiums were popular ornamental plants in European conservatories in the Victorian era. Oddly, the British never tried growing the plant outside and just assumed it was not hardy like most of the other gingers.
Hedychium Gingers are more cold hardy than most gingers, often call Hardy Ginger Lily. This group of ginger put on a great show of flowers in the summer to early fall, most are very fragrant and smell similar to Lonicera spp.
