Additional Comments: Henbane has a long association with soothsaying, magic and witchcraft. It was once believed to have aphrodisiac properties and was an ingredient of love potions. The Egyptians smoked it to relieve toothache.
Henbane, Insane Root, or Hog's-Bean is a small genus with fast growing annuals or biennials native of semi-arid or coastal areas from Central Europe, and the Mediterranean extending eastwards to Asia.
