Hibiscus or Rosemallow is a large genus of about 200-220 species of flowering plants in the family Malvaceae, native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world.

Hibiscus splendens
Depending on the species, flowers may be white, various shades of yellow, pink, purple, or red. Most plants are perennials, even though plants such as Abelmoschus moschatus die back for part of the year.

Hibiscus moscheutos 'Balhibred' P.P.#16155 is a new introduction from Ball Seed. The flowers of Luna Red Hibiscus are just as big and beautiful as the species type only the plant is much more compact, bushy, and better branched.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis "Cooperi" is a great hibiscus to grow. Its white, pink and green foliage make it a wonderful plant in any collection. Unlike other hibiscus, "Cooperi" has a very compact habit. Ours is 3 feet tall at 5 years old.

Hardy hibiscus requires well-drained soil and plenty of moisture during its active growing season. Dig a hole twice as deep and wide as the root ball and backfill with rich organic compost.
