H. orientalis are perennial bulbs with strap-shaped, basal leaves, 6-14 inches long. Extremely fragrant, funnel-shaped, six-petaled blooms are held in large racemes, up to 8 inches long.
Hyacinthus orientalis "Woodstock" blooms in March & April. It has maroon-burgundy florets in a shade a bit subtler than the usual gaudy blooms on these extremely colorful flowers.
