Fifteen-inch plants bear two to five 4-inch flowers that are pink with whitish or purplish shading. Fragrant flowers appear in spring. Plants with strong splashing of contrasting colors at their petal tips are called C. i. 'Aquinii'.

it is best sown in small pots or 2-1/2-inch plant bands. Plant bands are made of light wood or other material, are square and open top and bottom.

The 20 inch plants exhibit a uniform, compact plant habit that is suitable for both garden and containers. The 3 1/2 inch long, slim, tapered peppers go from green to red as they mature. Harvest when green or red and use fresh or dried.

Several species go by the common name Wandering Jew. Other common names include Inch Plant and Spiderwort.
Tradescantia albiflora is one of the most popular. Both 'Variegata' and 'Quicksilver' cultivars have white-striped leaves.

A small, yellow, daisy-like annual, use in edging, rock gardens, and containers. Mat-like, 6 to 8-inch plants are covered with 1½-inch flowers. Best in cool summer climates.

Snowdrop anemone (Anemone sylvestris) Another spring bloomer that naturalizes well, this species has fragrant, single, slightly nodding, 1-2 inch wide flowers on 12-18 inch plants. It prefers the same growing conditions as the wood anemone.

To confuse the matter more, these plants are also sometimes called inch plants. Some of them are pendant, others grow more upright. Whatever the nomenclature, these are all fairly easy and popular houseplants that do well in baskets.

Cultivars include 'Alma Potschke', which grows to 36 inches high with salmon rose flowers; 'Hella Lacy', which grows to 42 inches with royal purple flowers; and 'Purple Dome', a compact, 18-inch plant with deep purple flowers.
