Mature Height/Spread: This is an evergreen shrub with a compact growth habit to 10 feet high and 5 to 6 feet wide. The foliage is 2 to 4 inches long and rather leathery.

Japanese privet can be easily shaped into hedges and other shapes with regular close trimming.
Several variegated selections of Japanese ligustrum are available and often offered at discount garden centers.

Ligustrum japonicum (Japanese Privet) - This is an evergreen dense, compact shrub that grows 8-12 feet tall and 6-8 feet wide. It is a good hedge candidate.The thick round leaves are glossy green above and whitish underneath.
