3 (7)m, Yatay Jelly Palm is native of S America. A spectacular garden plant, hardier than Butia capitata and very wind resistant. Similar in appearance, yet with bluish green leaves and similar requirements as Butia capitata.

Jelly Palm, Pindo Palm (Butia capitata): This is the most commonly cultivated exotic palm in the Southeast. It is a feather-type palm with gray-green to blue-green fronds 6 to 8 feet long and a massive trunk up to a foot and a half across.

The Jelly palm was/is most certainly one of Elvis's favorites...rumor has him recently sighted in South America growing Jelly palms. This slow-growing specimen is the most cold hardy of the "feather leaf" palms...reliable to about 15 degrees F.
