Jonquil (Hybrid Narcissi Jonquilla) - Long known in gardens, and imported from Italy and Holland for forcing in pots. Much grown at Grasse, Cannes, etc., for its perfume. N. stellaris has narrow perianth lobes, and N.

 


Jonquil is one of the plants whose name has been erroneously applied to some of its kin, clouding the issue of identify.

Jonquil bulbs are planted four inches deep in autumn. Most jonquils like a very sunny location, but also do well in partial shade.

Jonquil. See Narcissus.
Juniperus bermudiana. Bermuda Cedar. Endemic, a species of juniper, with dense, blue-green foliage. The leaves are scale-like, overlapping one another, with berries that turn a dark purple.

jonquilla is the true jonquil with two to three richly scented, deep yellow flowers per stem late in the season. It grows 6 inches tall.
N. gracilis has delightfully fragrant yellow flowers with tiny, yellow-green eyes.

Division 7 - Jonquilla and Apodanthus: These are fragrant, with two to five small flowers per stem. E.g. Narcissus 'Dickcissel' AGM.

Other common names include jonquil and narcissus.
