Easy to grow, this member of the daisy family is good for borders or wild gardens. Most annual types are grown for their frilly, cuttable flowers, and perennials for their felty, gray foliage.

BACKGROUND: Spotted knapweed was introduced to North America from Eurasia as a contaminant in alfalfa and possibly clover seed, and through discarded soil used as ship ballast.

C. macrocephala is a perennial with a clump-forming habit. The flowers are borne from thistle or artichoke type buds and open brilliant yellow. These plants are attractive to bees and butterflies, and are good cut flowers.

45 (70)cm, Great Knapweed has nice purple, large Scabiosa like flowers. Full sun to partial shade in any well drained soil. VII-VIII.

Description:
The ray flowers of the various species of Cornflower (also known as Bachelor's Buttons, Bluets, Centaureas, and Knapweeds) are deeply divided, giving the showy flowers a very frilled appearance.
