Athyrium filix-femina, or Lady Fern, is a graceful, cold hardy fern native to much of the Northern Hemisphere. The bright green fronds will range in size from 24-60 inches (60-150 cm) long.
Lady Fern (Athyrium filix-femina): This vigorous fern has upright, deciduous leaves 24 to 48 inches tall. Grow in light shade to full shade throughout South Carolina except for the coast.
The Lady Fern is similar in size and general appearance to the Male Fern. It grows abundantly in Britain, in masses, in moist, sheltered woods, on hedgebanks and in ravines.
