Well, Sainsbury's Medium Roast Instant Coffee strong, black (without sugar) was sprayed onto Little Gem lettuce leaves to no effect. So we made some Lavazza Gold Italian coffee with likewise no effect when sprayed onto lettuce leaves.
This is an attractive biennial plant that looks, it must be said, like a form of lettuce. Slender stems hold the oblong leaves that are fresh-green with broad, irregular, yellow markings. The flowering inflorescence is light and airy.

I was shopping at the Farmer's Market on Vashon Island when I came across this lily in one of the vendor's offerings. It was a treat to find a bulb gem with scrumptious little flowering 'nodders' amongst the lettuce and broccoli of other vendors.
