Lomatium - Lomatium dissectum (in the Umbelliferae or Parsley family)
Part used: Root.

Lomatium dissectum < sometimes called "Fernleaf Lomatium", has large, handsome, leaves that are usually pinnately dissected but they are infrequently (as shown here) more broadly dissected. Flowers surmount a stalk that is up to 40 inches tall.

Description
General: hairless or short-hairy perennial, stems usually
leafless, 10-35 dm tall at maturity. Root short and tuberous-
thickened to less often more slender and elongate.

Lomatium nudicaule is called Wild or Indian Celery as well as Indian Consumption Plant. It is a western North American perennial, favoring sunny sites and well-draining soil.
