Resurrection Lily, so named because the plant re-emerges in late Summer after sending up its large clump of strap-like foliage in early Spring, has many other common names, including Magic Lily, Surprise Lily, Hardy Amaryllis, and Naked Lily.

Lycoris is of the amaryllis family and was long known as Amaryllis halli as well as resurrection lily because it seems to die and live again and magic lily because the flower stalk and buds seem to come so suddenly.
