Monterey Cypress (Cupressus Macrocarpa) - A very graceful and often stately tree, much planted and succeeding well near the sea coast.

X Cupressocyparis leylandii is an intergeneric cross between Chamaecyparis nootkatensis (Alaskan Cedar) and Cupressus macrocarpa (Monterey Cypress) that was found in England in the 1800's.
Leyland cypress is a bigeneric hybrid (the reason for the "x" before the Latin name) between Monterey cypress (Cupressus macrocarpa) and the Alaskan cedar (Chamaecyparis nootkatensis) that occurred accidentally on a Welch estate in 1892.
