Crape Myrtle, White Crape Myrtle
These small, multi-branched shrubs to small single-trunked trees are known for their ornamental flowers, bark and foliage. The large showy clusters of flowers range from white to pink to red to purple.

3 (5)m, Honey Myrtle makes a tall woody shrub with elliptical, mid green leaves and terminal globular spikes of purple flowers. It is native of the south coast of W Australia. For any humus rich, well drained soil in a sunny spot. V-VIII.

Cape Myrtle is a shrub that typically has dense, dark-green to red foliage and produces tiny bright purple berries. The shrub can achieve heights of over 2 m and may be dense if pruned or grown in strong sunlight.

Creeping myrtle has a reputation for being a tough evergreen ground cover for shade that will grow in almost any soil. Though the leaves of the species are a shiny dark green, the leaves of 'Illumination' are vividly splashed with a bright gold color.

This crapemyrtle produces red flowers in mid-July. It has an upright broad form growing 16 feet in height. The autumn color is red-orange and has good resisitance.

As a crapemyrtle Dynamite is considered one of the best because of the bright red flowers and its superior powdery mildew resistance. Like all crapemyrtles, it has outstanding drought tolerance.

Downy rose myrtle (Rhodomyrtus tomentosa), native to Asia, is spreading unchecked in Florida, taking over the understory of native pinelands, and probably altering the natural fire regimes of southern Florida.
