Nandina domestica 'Moon Bay'
Dwarf nandina
This dwarf variety grows only 1-1/2 feet tall, and spreads slowly. The foliage is more compact than the full-size nandina, and it is more a true evergreen. New growth turns fire-red in winter.

Nandina domestica is an evergreen shrub in the Southern states, 'Compacta' is lower growing than the species and has more numerous leaflets giving it a lacey appearance.

Nandina domestica
( Atropurpurea Nana Nandina )
'Atropurpurea Nana' is a smaller variety, reaching only two feet in height. Not as attractive as some of the other smaller forms, the foliage is pale green to yellow with swathes of wine tones.

Nandina is an evergreen or semi-evergreen woody shrub that can grow 6 to 8 feet in height. The tri-pinnately compound leaves are alternately arranged. Leaflets are ovate, 1 to 2 inches long while the entire leaf is 10 to 20 inches long.

Nandina is a good choice for an airy hedge. Less pruning and just as colorful as a photinia, nandinas have the added bonus of bright red berries.
