Similar Species: Largeflower Evening-primrose (Oenothera grandiflora has flowers to about 10cm (4") wide. It's native range is limited to the coastal plane of Alabama but has escaped from cultivation elsewhere.

MEDICINAL: Evening Primrose oil stimulates to help with liver and spleen conditions. In Europe, it has been used to treat Multiple Sclerosis. It lowers blood pressure, and eases the pain of angina by opening up the blood vessels.

berlandieri resembles a Primrose or Oenothera spp. that is yellow only with a more bushy and upright growth habit. The leaves are finely textured, almost needle-like.

Nicotiana (tobacco plant) and Oenothera (evening primroses) are ideal. Summer-flowering jasmines, honeysuckles, Erica cinerea, Silene latifolia and sweet rocket are all valuable nectar plants for moths.
