(psk´flou´´r), name for two similar perennials of the family Ranunculaceae (buttercup family). The Old World pasqueflower (Anemone pulsatilla) was so named because it blossoms around the Eastertime.

Pasqueflower is not common in the Four Corners area, occurring only in the Abajos of Utah and the foothills and mountains of La Plata County, Colorado.

They are called Pasqueflowers, Paschal Flower, or Easter Flowers, because they are still in full bloom around the time of Passover. The leaves have occasionally been added to soups for Passover feasts, despite mild toxicity.
