Peegee hydrangea (H. paniculata) - Peegee hydrangea are the largest of the free-standing types, growing 15 to 20 feet high and 10 to 15 feet wide.
Peegee Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata): This is a 10- to 15-foot shrub or up to 25-foot tree. Leaves are 5 inches long and turn bronze in fall. Flowers are mainly fertile, in 10- to 15-inch clusters, white slowly fading to pink in fall.
PeeGee Hydrangea Paniculata
One of the largest hydrangeas, you can grow PeeGee (Hydrangea paniculata 'Grandiflora') as a small summer-flowering tree. It grows to 20 feet tall (or more, if really happy) and 8 feet wide.
Peegee Hydrangea,
a Northwest favorite
We planted a young deciduous Peegee Hydrangea between two large shrubs, an & a rhody, & have pruned the abelia away from it so that the Peegee doesn't get crowded out while it is gaining its growth.
Peegee hydrangea blooms over a long season, with the flowers starting out white in mid-summer, aging to pink and finally turning rusty brown in autumn. Unlike bigleaf hydrangea (H. macrophylla), flower color does not vary with soil pH.
