Pentstemon Barbatus
Pentstemon Barbatus - A tall, erect plant, very showy in a dry season, and one of the best and hardiest kinds.
PENTSTEMONS Flower end June-end September. Good because they like a wet season! Take cuttings in September and October from base of plant. Strike in cold frame and keep there throughout the winter. Plant in beds in early April.
Here and there the lilies linger on northern slopes and in the shade of mountain firs, but on southern slopes the predominating yellows, blues and reds of buttercup, lupine and paint-brush, pentstemon and larkspur, ...
In Scrophularia the fifth stamen appears in the form of a scale; and in many Pentstemons it is reduced to a filament with hairs or a shrivelled membrane at the apex.
