Should a gardener be looking for a sycamore tree for the landscape, a far better choice is the London Plane tree. This tree is a sycamore look-alike but it is smaller, disease resistant and more tidy.

Recent molecular research has shown that the closest living relatives of the sacred lotus are the plane trees (Platanus spp., Platanaceae) and members of the protea family (Proteaceae).

Most people seemed very happy with the show. The weather was kind and the garden inspiring but the one element that spoilt it for many visitors and exhibitors were the millions of seeds and pollen falling from the mature 300 year old Plane trees.
