Plantain, Common ...
Asian Plantain is a perennial herb with leaves arising directly from root. Leaves are all at the base, ovate-elliptic, 5-15 cm long, 3-8 cm wide, blunt, with several parallel nerves visible. Stalks can be as long as leaves, dilated at base.
Water plantain is a striking plant for shallow water at a pond edge or in a very boggy site. It has sturdy, oblong, rather strappy, bright green leaves and, carried on a net of fine stalks, are the flowers which make a token veil over the foliage.
The mud plantain is rarely found growing in the ditches of Orange, Hillsborough, Palm Beach and Miaim-Dade counties (Wunderlin, 2003). It is native to the central United States Mexico.
