Pumpkins
Pumpkins and squash must be gathered before frost. Place the fruits in a sunny spot, no two touching, avoid bruising at all times. Cover with canvas, blankets or burlap in cold weather.

'Lumina' is a white pumpkin with bright orange flesh. Fruits are generally 10-12 pounds and 8-10 inches in diameter. Stores well. Small pumpkins are grown for cooking and eating, while the larger sizes are for Jack-o'-lanterns and exhibition.

Whether for jack-o-lanterns or pies, pumpkins are a sure sign that fall has arrived. Along with the large, traditional, vining pumpkins, consider growing 2 to 3 inch baby pumpkins, or bush types with 10-inch-wide fruit each weighing 5 to 7 pounds.
