Queen Palm
Only one type of these feather palms, the Queen Palm, is commonly grown. The straight trunk and 10- to 15-foot-long fronds that look like ostrich feathers give it a fluffy, graceful elegance.

Queen palm is tolerant but prefers enriched sandy soils. Fertilize twice a year in spring and summer with a fertilizer that contains micronutrients, especially manganese.

Queen Palm (Syagrus romanzoffiana) - Hardy to about âˆ'8 °C. this palm is native to central and eastern South America. Formerly named Cocos plumosa, it resembles the coconut (cocos), it has graceful, flowing plumose fronds.

A few palm species, such as the Queen palm or the Canary Island date palm, are considered "cold-hardy". Cold, in this case, may be temperatures no lower than 20 degrees.
