Ragwort Characteristics Hairy to hairless plant growing to 1m tall. Mass of leaf stems with clusters of yellow flowers. This plant is poisonous and is a problem for horses and sheep as it destroys the liver so is incurable.
Ragwort is rarely a problem in gardens but may occur in pony paddocks, railway embankments and areas of unimproved pasture. Cattle and horses are particularly susceptible to poisoning.
