Golden Rain Tree
Reminiscent of Wisteria, these trees' pendulous, bright yellow flower clusters grow up to 20 inches long. Olive-green bark and bright green compound leaves add to their ornamental beauty.

Rain tree is a large, tropical tree growing up to 180' tall with a crown up to 240 ft broad although they are smaller in the sup - tropics.
It is a beautiful shade tree.

Description
The emerging leaves on the Golden Rain Tree are pink-red then mid-green then turning butter yellow in the autumn.

Small to medium sized deciduous tree, 20 to 40 feet tall, 15 to 25 feet wide. Growth habit is upright and spreading, in youth the thick stems must be pruned to induce a mature dense crown.

Rain Tree. Samanea saman. Not common.
Raphanus. Wild radish. Also known as jointed or white charlock. Can be seen flowing on roadsides. A native of Europe and Asia, it is a weed, but pretty. Two types are here.

Called 'rain tree' because of exudates by homipteran insects feeding in the crown; Saman is a South American plant name . It was widely dispersed in the tropics before the 1870s at least (Coner, 1988).

Golden rain tree is quite adaptable to most soil conditions. It does best in loose, well drained soil with good watering, especially when young. It tolerates drought, alkaline soil, heat, wind, and air pollution.

One of the five official memorial trees from ancient times in China, the goldenrain tree was reserved for the tombs of scholars.

(Samanea) saman, similar movements occur as the leaflets fold towards the evening when the light is failing, or just when there is heavy cloud cover, this behaviour being responsible (in some tellings of the tale) for its name, the rain tree.
