Long a traditional hedge shrub in the American South, red tip (Photinea x fraseri), also called red top, has distinctive foliage that is bright red when young.

My experiences Although the plant got slightly red tops and small brown flowers in my aquarium (which normally means the plant is growing well), there still came a lot of algae's on it.

Each woody stem is covered top to bottom with long, narrow leaves. The dark-green leaves are pointed at the tips and grow upward, giving this captivating plant a lean, elegant look.

Huge double blooms of rich carmine red top bold stems; the blooms, which start appearing in mid- to late spring, are striking in bouquets (try them with clusters of blue-flowered forget-me-nots).

The photo was snapped through limbs of a & showing the triple-leadered top of the further along the gardens. The small tree-like shrub near the small wooden bench is a winter-blooming but the photo didn't bring out the pink flowers all over it.

A short, weak, upright, forb with a multi-branched, numerous flowered top. Usually found on gravelly or rocky limestone soils in open areas. Flowers are pink.

Check progress after two weeks. Gently remove any yellowed or dead leaves and withered top of cutting if dry enough to come off easily. However, these don't mean the cutting is dying.
