Rhus typhina 'Bailtiger'
Rhus typhina 'Bailtiger', commonly known as TIGER EYES (Cutleaf Staghorn Sumac) had an early launch into some US garden centres from spring 2004!
Bailey Nurseries were really excited about their newest introduction.

'Red Autumn Lace' (Rhus x pulvinata, a hybrid of R. glabra and R. typhina) - This is a confused entity, as some authors state that this is the "real" 'Laciniata' and that both are the same.

Out on the street corner in an extremely sunny & summer-dry location, we have a young Staghorn Sumac ( Rhus typhina) of about thirteen feet of height (as of 2003).

About Sumac
Sumac is the common name for about 250 species in the genus Rhus. These woody shrubs are found in warm regions throughout the world.

Rhus Typhina - O.K., so it's not exactly a "wildflower", more of a shrub... A familiar sight while speeding down the highway. Most obvious in winter, as the bunches of red berries (see below) often stay on the plant through the winter.

Sow seed after soaking in spring, 65-70F/18-21C, or when fresh in fall, into well-drained soil; most soils tolerated. Germination irregular. Sun. Suckers produced readily, and may be divided off in spring.

Skin contact with this plant can cause dermatitis in sensitive people[200]. Though related to several poisonous species, this species is definitely not poisonous[65].

Fragrant Sumac (Rhus aromatica) has a very similar appearance to poison ivy. While both species have three leaflets, the center leaflet of poison ivy is on a long stalk, while the center leaflet of fragrant sumac does not have an obvious stalk.

The true sumacs belong to the genus Rhus; some botanists include the poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac in that genus.
