Also known as S. vitellina var. pendula and S. alba 'Niobe'. With a wide canopy of gracefully pendulous, golden branches, this spectacualar tree is rapidly becoming the choice weeping willow in gardens.

(Salix Alba) - A graceful and stately tree of the marsh lands and river valleys throughout Europe and Asia, common in Britain, and often beautiful. It has several varieties, particularly a silvery one, and a red one (britzensis).

It can be used with Viburnum opulus and Cimicfuga in rheumatoid arthritis, or with Apium, Althaea, Filipendula, Salix or Menyanthes for the acute stages of rheumatoid arthritis. A decoction with the bark of Salix alba will relieve arthritic pains.

Since many willows freely hybridize, the exact nomenclature of this specimen is uncertain, but the most common weeping form is Salix alba 'Tristis' (Golden Weeping Willow), while another form is Salix babylonica (Babylon Weeping Willow).
