Galanthus woronowii can be seen growing in the Rock Garden, where it flowers from late January to the end of February.

Snowdrops are some of the earliest bulbs, and flowers in general, to bloom in spring. Galanthus nivalis is the most common species, and its cultivars are the most commonly grown snowdrops on the market. They are reliably hardy and perennial.

Snowdrop, usually spoken of as the first flower of our year, though the Winter Aconite has perhaps a better title to be so considered, has never been of much account in physic, and has never been recognized.

'Snowdrops are quintessentially elegant and simple,' says Richard. 'And not only are they hardy, but they bloom at a time of year when you're craving flowers.'

The common name, snowdrops, perhaps came about because they bloom so early that many times they are flowering while there is still snow on the ground.

Snowdrop anemone (Anemone sylvestris) Another spring bloomer that naturalizes well, this species has fragrant, single, slightly nodding, 1-2 inch wide flowers on 12-18 inch plants. It prefers the same growing conditions as the wood anemone.

Description:
Snowdrops are among the first perennial bulbs to bloom in late Winter, along with Crocus, Dwarf Iris, and Winter Aconite.

They are related to snowdrops - and often get confused as being those. Leucojums have larger flowers.
